The Pennsylvania high school football is now onto the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) state championships as teams prepare for this weekend\u2019s title matchups.<\/p>\n
No. 1 ranked La Salle College<\/a>\u00a0has consistently remained their dominant after they routed North Penn<\/a>, 49-14, in the state semifinal round and advance to face No. 2 Central Catholic<\/a> for the state\u2019s 6A state crown. Which other Pennsylvania high school football teams make our second to lastset of Top 25 rankings as the season heads its final weekend? <\/p>\n The\u00a0Massey Ratings<\/a>, officially used during the BCS era, is a model that ranks sports teams by analyzing game outcomes, strength of schedule, and margin of victory.<\/p>\n Here is the latest Pennsylvania high school football Top 25 rankings, according to Massey as of Dec. 2.<\/p>\n 1. La Salle College Explorers (12-1)<\/p>\n The\u00a0La Salle College<\/a>\u00a0Explorers (12-1) made it look fairly easy in a PIAA Class 6A state semifinal tilt as they cruised by North Penn in a 49-14 rout. <\/p>\n The Explorers have effectively avenged a 2024 Class 6A state championship loss to\u00a0St. Joseph\u2019s Prep School<\/a>\u00a0by defeating the Hawks, 24-14, ending their 2025 season. Now, La Salle looks to put a bow and tie on the season by winning a state championship this weekend when they take on Central Catholic, the No. 2 team in the state. <\/p>\n Senior quarterback\u00a0Gavin Sidwar<\/a>, a\u00a0Missouri<\/a>\u00a0commit, through 10 games this season before the playoffs has completed 166 of 234 (71 percent) passes for 2,399 yards, 29 touchdowns and just five picks.<\/p>\n 2. Central Catholic Vikings (13-1)<\/p>\n Make it fourteen-straight victories for\u00a0Central Catholic<\/a>, as they soundly defeated Harrisburg<\/a>, 32-14,\u00a0in the state semifinal round of the Class 6A playoffs.\u00a0The Vikings (13-1) have been one of the state\u2019s hottest teams as they\u2019ve now won fourteen consecutive wins since losing to\u00a0La Salle College<\/a>\u00a0at the beginning of the season. <\/p>\n Now the Vikings will get their long awaited rematch with the Explorers this week for the PIAA\u2019s Class 6A state championship. <\/p>\n Vikings\u2019 sophomore quarterback\u00a0Owen Herrick<\/a>, who completed 145 of 255 passes for 2,313 yards and 19 touchdowns. Another player that has had a strong season for Central Catholic is junior running back\u00a0Roman Thompson, who has rushed for 839 yards and 29 touchdowns.<\/p>\n 3. St. Joseph\u2019s Prep School Hawks (5-5)<\/p>\n The\u00a0St. Joseph\u2019s Prep School<\/a>\u00a0Hawks won\u2019t be repeating as Class 6A state champions as their season ended at the hands of\u00a0La Salle College<\/a>, 24-14.<\/p>\n Playing a national schedule certainly has impacted the overall win\/loss record for the team, but make no mistake that this is still one of Pennsylvania\u2019s top high school football teams.<\/p>\n St. Joseph\u2019s Prep (5-5) won the Class 6A state championship last year, but won\u2019t get a chance to repeat.<\/p>\n 4. Peters Township Indians (13-1)<\/p>\n The\u00a0Peters Township<\/a>\u00a0Indians (13-1) saw its undefeated run this season come to an end in heartbreaking fashion as they fell, 31-28, to Bishop McDevitt<\/a>\u00a0last week. Peters Township\u2019s goal of reaching the Class 5A state championship comes up just short of their ultimate goal. <\/p>\n The Indians roster featured multiple Division I recruits on the team, including seniors\u00a0Reston Lehman<\/a>\u00a0(Pittsburgh commit) and\u00a0Lucas Shanafelt<\/a>\u00a0(Stanford commit).<\/p>\n Peters Township started the 5A playoffs with No. 10 ranked\u00a0Upper Saint Clair<\/a>\u00a0(9-3), winning 31-6 in the opening round before the Pine-Richland victory. <\/p>\n 5. Bishop McDevitt Crusaders (12-2)<\/p>\n Rounding out the Pennsylvania Top 5 of the rankings is\u00a0the Bishop McDevitt<\/a> Crusaders (12-2), which narrowly defeated Peters Township (see above), 31-28, in a Class 5A state semifinal last week. <\/p>\n The Crusaders after a loss to Harrisburg back on Aug. 29 have won 12 games in a row, making them one of the hottest Pennsylvania high school football teams heading into the state championships. <\/p>\n Leading the offensive charge for Bishop McDevitt is the play of Eastern Michigan commitment Nazir Jones-Davis<\/a> (1,281 yards, 18 touchdowns). <\/p>\n 6.\u00a0Roman Catholic<\/a>\u00a0Cahillite (11-3) 11.\u00a0Upper Saint Clair<\/a>\u00a0Panthers (9-4) 16.\u00a0Episcopal Academy<\/a>\u00a0Churchmen (9-1) 21.\u00a0Moon Area<\/a>\u00a0Tigers (9-4)
