(WHTM) \u2013 Pennsylvanians will return to the polls in just a few months for the 2026 primary election.<\/p>\n

According to the Pennsylvania Department of State,<\/a> as of December 2, 2025, the spring primary election is set for May 19, 2026.<\/a><\/p>\n

Candidates can begin circulating and filing nomination petitions on February 17, and have until March 10 to file their petitions. Objections to petitions can be filed up until March 17.<\/p>\n

Voters have until May 4 to register to vote in the primary, and the last day to apply for a mail-in or civilian absentee ballot is May 12.<\/p>\n

All primary election ballots must be turned in to your county board of elections by 8 p.m. on May 19. Military and overseas absentee ballots can be returned up until May 26.<\/p>\n

Pennsylvania voters will have the opportunity to vote for Governor<\/a>, a member of Congress<\/a>, and their local state lawmakers. Governor Josh Shapiro (D) is expected to run for re-election, while the Republicans may have a primary contest with multiple candidates looking for votes.<\/p>\n

The November general election is on November 3, and residents have until October 19 to register to vote. The last day to request a mail-in or absentee ballot in the general election is October 27, with ballots due back by 8 p.m. on Election Day.<\/p>\n
