Five people were injured, including two children, when a school bus and a car collided Tuesday afternoon in Bethlehem Township.<\/a><\/p>\n

Township Police Chief Gregory J. Gottschall told lehighvalleylive.com the accident happened just after 4:30 p.m. at Freemansburg Avenue and Washington Street. <\/p>\n

Gottschall said the car driver was stopped in the westbound lane at the intersection and waiting to make a left turn to head south onto Washington Street. The school bus, the chief said, was headed west on Freemansburg Avenue, approaching the intersection. <\/p>\n

The bus rear-ended the stopped car that was waiting to make the left turn, he said. <\/p>\n

The bus belonged to Colonial Intermediate Unit 20, which transports special needs students to local school districts throughout the region. <\/p>\n

Two students, a school bus aide, and the bus driver were taken to St. Luke\u2019s Hospital-Anderson in Bethlehem Township for treatment. The car driver also was taken to St. Luke\u2019s Hospital-Anderson for treatment.<\/p>\n

None of the injuries were life threatening, Gottschall said.<\/p>\n

Both vehicles sustained moderate damage from the accident and had to be towed from the scene. <\/p>\n

The crash currently remains under investigation by the Bethlehem Township Police Department.<\/p>\n
