A 36-year-old Taylor man faces charges after police said he threatened to kill Scranton public officials \u2014 including cops and the city\u2019s mayor \u2014 and blow up government buildings.<\/p>\n
On Monday, Scranton officers were informed of the threats made by Derek Greenfield on his Facebook and Snapchat accounts, police said.<\/p>\n
Police received screenshots of two posts from Greenfield\u2019s Facebook page in which threatening comments were written, officers said.<\/p>\n
A portion of one post included the following: \u201cThere\u2019s two Scranton pigs that I am \u2026 marking, and I\u2019m going to \u2026 kill their whole \u2026 family,\u201d according to a criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
In the post, Greenfield also threatened to destroy city buildings and kill city officials, stating in part, \u201cI\u2019m going to \u2026 blow up all the \u2026 government buildings I can in Scranton until \u2026 they catch me. I will \u2026 commit murder left and right, and I will start \u2026 with government officials, Scranton Mayor \u2026 and cops,\u201d per the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
Greenfield also posted on Facebook and Snapchat about running red lights while driving through Scranton streets, police said.<\/p>\n
In the Snapchat videos also shared with officers, Greenfield threatened to kill officers (\u201cpigs\u201d) and run someone over to get the police\u2019s attention, according to the criminal complaint.<\/p>\n
Police charged Greenfield, 7 Roosevelt St., with terrorism and terroristic threats.<\/p>\n
As of Thursday, Greenfield remained in Lackawanna County Prison as bail was denied.
