BETHLEHEM, Pa. — A former Truist Bank<\/a> building on Linden Street in Bethlehem has been sold for $1.5 million, according to Northampton County property records.<\/p>\n

The bank went under multiple names during the era of bank combinations. It was National Penn, then KNBT and later BB&T. In 2019, BB&T merged with SunTrust Bank and became Truist.<\/p>\n

The buyer is Community Bank N.A.<\/a>, based in DeWitt, New York.<\/p>\n

The branch at 2943 Linden St., near Macada Road, closed as a Truist operation in 2020. It has been vacant for more than four years, but new businesses and new construction have taken shape nearby.<\/p>\n

The building is on the west side of Linden Street, near a daycare center and Walgreens. Across the street are Linden Beverage, a gas station and an apartment complex that is not quite complete.<\/p>\n

Linden Place, with 61 apartments, is on the property of the former Stefano’s restaurant and land behind it. A smaller restaurant also planned for the site of the former Stefano’s, just off the street.<\/p>\n

At the intersection of Butztown Road and Linden, near the bank building, more apartments are planned but site work has not begun.<\/p>\n

Community Bank acquired the former Truist branch on May 3, according to county records. Community Bank is a subsidiary of Community Financial System Inc.<\/p>\n

The last recorded sale of the property was in 2017, for $1.1 million.<\/p>\n
