Tina Fenstemaker, whose son Harrison was killed by a drunk driver, was among the speakers aiming to provide a new perspective to the inmates.<\/p>\n<p>\t<a href=\"https:\/\/www.yourerie.com\/news\/local-news\/erie-county-health-dept-unveils-new-community-health-report\/?ipid=promo-link-block1\" class=\"promo-link__link\" target=\"&quot;_blank&quot;\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><br \/>\n\t\tErie County Health Dept. unveils new community health report\t<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI hope by hearing this story some little piece of you wants to do better, to be better,\u201d said Tina Fenstemaker, addressing the inmates.<\/p>\n<p>Carrie King, a psychological services specialist at SCI Albion, emphasized the importance of inmates hearing from victims, saying, \u201cBeing able to hear a victim speak, being able to understand their actions had a ripple effect and also understanding that they can go on to do positive things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Day of Responsibility\u2019 is an annual event at SCI Albion that allows inmates to engage with guest speakers and reflect on personal responsibility. One inmate created a painting of Harrison, Tina\u2019s son, as a gesture of connection and understanding.<\/p>\n<p>The inmate who painted Harrison\u2019s portrait expressed a sense of connection to Tina\u2019s story, mentioning that his own son is of a similar age and he couldn\u2019t imagine losing him. \u201cI feel like I\u2019m giving back, paying my debt to society,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Day of Responsibility\u2019 at SCI Albion provided inmates with a platform to reflect on their actions and consider their impact on others, fostering a sense of accountability and hope for positive change.
