{"id":54963,"date":"2025-12-08T05:49:06","date_gmt":"2025-12-08T05:49:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/54963\/"},"modified":"2025-12-08T05:49:06","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T05:49:06","slug":"riverside-is-new-no-1-in-boys-poll-scranton-prep-girls-remain-at-top-scranton-times-tribune","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/54963\/","title":{"rendered":"Riverside is new No. 1 in boys poll; Scranton Prep girls remain at top \u2013 Scranton Times-Tribune"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There is already a change at the top of the first Times-Tribune High School Boys Basketball Poll, while the girls\u2019 ranking sees little shakeup.<\/p>\n<p>Riverside, led by the high-scoring Nico Antoniacci, takes over as the No. 1 team in the boys ranking, and Scranton Prep is anchored at No. 1 among the girls teams.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, Valley View, which debuts in the poll, knocked off Holy Cross to create the movement.<\/p>\n<p>Riverside is off to a 3-0 start with impressive performances from Antoniacci. The Vikings\u2019 best win came against District 1 Penncrest, which reached the PIAA Class 4A quarterfinals last season.<\/p>\n<p>Abington Heights is 2-0 in the early season. The Comets climbed three places to No. 2.<\/p>\n<p>Dunmore (3-0) is off to a fast start and moved up three places to No. 3. The Bucks averaged 68.3 points per game and won by an average margin of 39.0 points.<\/p>\n<p>Valley View, which didn\u2019t have any returning starters from last season\u2019s District 2 Class 4A championship team that reached the PIAA semifinals, jumps into the poll at No. 4.<\/p>\n<p>Scranton Prep split its two games at the North Catholic Tip-off Tournament in western Pennsylvania and is ranked No. 5.<\/p>\n<p>Delaware Valley won its first three games to move one place in the poll to No. 6.<\/p>\n<p>Holy Cross, which is without injured guard CJ Thompson, fell from No. 1 to No. 7 after opening with a win over Fannie Lou Hamer and a loss to Valley View.<\/p>\n<p>Old Forge lost to the host Wolfpack in the title game of the Wilkes-Barre Area Tournament and dropped from No. 3 to No. 8.<\/p>\n<p>Elk Lake stayed at No. 9 after two wins, and Lackawanna Trail is No. 10 after it won the Cal King Tournament championship.<\/p>\n<p>In the girls\u2019 ranking, Scranton Prep is 2-0 after wins over Wyoming Valley West and Bethlehem Liberty. The Classics are a unanimous choice at No. 1.<\/p>\n<p>Dunmore stayed at No. 2, while North Pocono (3-0) and Abington Heights (1-1) swapped places at No. 3 and No. 4.<\/p>\n<p>Mountain View is 3-0, which includes a win over Pocono Mountain East, and moved up one place into the top five.<\/p>\n<p>Valley View, which lost to Dunmore last week in a nonleague game, is at No. 6.<\/p>\n<p>Wallenpaupack, unranked in the preseason, defeated East Stroudsburg North, Stroudsburg, and Western Wayne to land at No. 7.<\/p>\n<p>Scranton lost to Crestwood and Dallas, two top teams from the Wyoming Valley Conference, and tumbled three places to eighth.<\/p>\n<p>Honesdale, which lost to No. 3 North Pocono, is down one spot to ninth, and Elk Lake, which has not played a game, is at No. 10.<\/p>\n<p>2025-26 WEEK 1 TIMES-TRIBUNE BOYS TOP 10<\/p>\n<p>1.
