{"id":55526,"date":"2025-12-08T21:20:07","date_gmt":"2025-12-08T21:20:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/55526\/"},"modified":"2025-12-08T21:20:07","modified_gmt":"2025-12-08T21:20:07","slug":"scranton-police-department-mourns-loss-of-retired-k-9-officer-gunner","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/55526\/","title":{"rendered":"Scranton Police Department mourns loss of retired K-9 Officer Gunner"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SCRANTON, Pa. \u2014 The Scranton Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its K-9 officers.<\/p>\n<p>Gunner, a retired K-9 Officer who served from 2012 to 2023, passed away Monday morning in the arms of his handler, Officer Tallo, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/permalink.php?story_fbid=pfbid0FtL69vtBKffB5t6Bkaqu1d3djXhMXHj9j7Kr8jRRsR23zPkMMyqzWTL69emRjYuul&amp;id=100067457661610\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\">according to the department.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Gunner was trained in criminal apprehension and narcotics and kept the community safe through a series of accomplishments, including assisting in the capture of three fugitives, tracking a fugitive for two miles, and locating over $1 million in drug seizures.<\/p>\n<p>The department says Gunner was known throughout Lackawanna County as an immeasurable asset and will be deeply missed.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"SCRANTON, Pa. \u2014 The Scranton Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its K-9 officers.
