Planning for April\u2019s NFL draft<\/a> is \u201cramping up\u201d in Pittsburgh, with \u201ca Downtown revamp in the works and tensions rising in City Hall,\u201d according to Madaleine Rubin of the PITTSBURGH POST-GAZETTE. Officials from the NFL and VisitPittsburgh<\/a> \u201cshared new details\u201d about the three-day event ahead of Monday night\u2019s closed-door town hall with residents. The draft — the \u201clargest event that Pittsburgh has ever hosted\u201d — is \u201cexpected to generate between\u201d $115M and $215M in \u201cdirect spending locally,\u201d with a projected 500,000 to 700,000 visitors to Pittsburgh across all three days. The draft footprint will \u201cencompass parts of the North Shore and Downtown.\u201d NFL Dir\/Event Operations Steve Fargo said that \u201cnext to an 18-foot, Steeler gold countdown clock on the North Shore, parking lots adjacent to Acrisure Stadium will house the Draft Theater.\u201d Across the Allegheny River, the Draft Experience — an NFL-sponsored festival for fans with concessions and activities — \u201cwill be at Point State Park.\u201d League officials said that it is the \u201cfirst time the draft footprint will be split by a body of water.\u201d Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro allocated $10M to funding the draft in this year\u2019s state budget, passed last month.
