A mother of three was found dead after a devastating fire erupted in a Philadelphia rowhome late Tuesday morning.<\/p>\n
Action News has learned the victim was found on the second floor. She has not yet been identified by officials, but family and neighbors said the woman killed was 70-year-old Denise Green.<\/p>\n
“I just can’t believe it. This is just a tragic thing for the whole community,” said Andre Jones, who lives nearby.<\/p>\n
“It’s so devastating for her and her kids,” added Brenda Talley, who has known Green for decades.<\/p>\n
The flames were reported around 11 a.m. in the 5700 block of North Lambert Street.<\/p>\n
Chopper 6 was over the scene as heavy smoke and flames billowed from the home.<\/p>\n
“That fire – it was crazy. I’ve never seen anything like that,” said Talley, who called 911.<\/p>\n
The deputy commissioner says the flames were so intense that they had to fight the fire from the outside. Officials say flames spread to three homes.<\/p>\n
The whole block also lost power, but it was restored hours later.<\/p>\n
According to the Red Cross, 12 people are being supported as a result of the flames.<\/p>\n
Donna Mason was Green’s neighbor.<\/p>\n
“She loved to party. We had block parties back in the day. She was our block captain. We were like family. When I ran into her son, he broke down in my arms. We couldn’t believe it,” Mason said.<\/p>\n
