SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) \u2014 On Sunday, an annual concert rang in the holidays not with a bang, but something jazzier: a 17-piece band.<\/p>\n
The Scranton Jazz Festival Christmas Classic was held at Scranton Preparatory School and featured Scrantonians young and old hitting notes, rocking solos, and performing adaptations of classic Christmas and holiday tunes. Along with the performers, the festival also featured a toy drive for WRC, We Respect Care that will distribute the toys to families around Scranton.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s just the perfect opportunity to make it more about just being entertained, you know,” explained Executive Director of the Scranton Jazz Festival Sarah Effertz. “And to really try to give back to the community and have that togetherness and that sense of unity.\u201d<\/p>\n

The night kicked off with the PA Jazz institute at Misericordia University holiday combo then saw the Emmy nominated 17-piece band, Broadway singers, and more.
