BETHLEHEM, Pa. \u2014 A plan that would redevelop the former Wells Fargo site on West Broad Street<\/a> will be reviewed this week by the City Planning Commission.<\/p>\n

Developers envision more than 6,700 square feet for an \u201cexperience center\u201d and rooftop terrace at the historic bank building at West Broad and Guetter streets downtown.<\/p>\n

Also, plans show 61 apartments in a new seven-story structure to go atop and just north of the bank, which is set to be maintained.<\/p>\n

Also planned are two stories and more than 2,000 square feet of restaurant space in the current parking lot to the east.<\/p>\n

City planners meet at 5 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Town Hall, 10 E. Church St. The proposal for the former Wells Fargo is listed fourth on an agenda of five items<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Wells Fargo Bank at 52 W. Broad St. in Bethlehem is known for its ornate facade.<\/p>\n

Project drawings show 28 one-bedroom apartments ranging from 654 to 841 square feet, and 33 two-bedroom apartments ranging from 976 square feet to 1,080 square feet.<\/p>\n

The \u201cbelow grade\u201d Bethlehem Police training facility will remain in place in the lower level of the bank building, according to the city.<\/p>\n

Wells Fargo closed the West Broad Street branch in August 2024.<\/p>\n

The building reportedly was built in 1925, and once was home to the Lehigh Valley National Bank and other financial institutions as time went on.<\/p>\n
