SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) \u2014 Police have charged a 25-year-old Scranton man in connection with a violent assault that left another man with severe wounds to his face and back, authorities said.<\/p>\n
Officers were called to Geisinger Community Medical Center on December 7 after a man arrived with deep lacerations, including a four-inch cut across his face and a 10-inch wound on his back. According to investigators, the victim told police he was injured while trying to intervene as a friend was being assaulted. During the confrontation, the attacker allegedly slashed him with a box cutter.<\/p>\n
Detectives opened an investigation and, after interviewing witnesses and reviewing surveillance footage from the area, identified Kartier Zayvion Sherry, of Scranton, as the suspected assailant. Police filed multiple charges against Sherry, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated assault, simple assault with a deadly weapon, and simple assault.<\/p>\n
Sherry was taken into custody on December 10 at Scranton Police Headquarters.<\/p>\n
