The man selected to be Pittsburgh\u2019s next police chief had been the subject of a criminal investigation in Maryland.<\/p>\n
PREVIOUS COVERAGE >>> Mayor-elect Corey O\u2019Connor will nominate former police commander Jason Lando as chief, sources say<\/a><\/p>\n Jason Lando<\/a> resigned on Thursday as police chief in Frederick, Maryland.<\/p>\n He was accused of sending disparaging and harassing text messages to a former corporal.<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n Advertisement<\/p>\n The sheriff\u2019s office traced the text messages back to Lando.<\/p>\n Investigators referred the case to the state prosecutor\u2019s office, which declined to pursue the case.<\/p>\n Chief investigator Rick Earle spoke with.<\/p>\n He provided us with a letter from the state prosecutor\u2019s office, which he says cleared him of any wrongdoing.<\/p>\n However, published reports out of Maryland indicate the mayor of Frederick is calling for a new investigation.<\/p>\n This is a developing story.
