A reported Saturday night shooting most likely did not happen in Upper Darby, police say.<\/p>\n
Upper Darby police along with paramedics were dispatched about 9:15 p.m. to the 300 block of Wembly Road for a 16-year-old shot in a leg.<\/p>\n
Township Police Superintendent Timothy Bernhardt said his officers found a juvenile from Philadelphia with an ankle wound. He was treated and taken to a hospital.<\/p>\n
Bernhardt said that through extensive investigation by both patrol officers and detectives they don\u2019t believe the shooting happened in Upper Darby.<\/p>\n
Bernhardt said police checked the interior, exterior and location where the victim and two other juveniles involved described the incident and found no evidence of a shooting.<\/p>\n
Police reviewed video and audio surveillance from the descriptions the three gave and said they could find no evidence of a shooting.<\/p>\n
The hospital decided not to remove the bullet from the victim, so police do not know what type of weapon was involved.<\/p>\n
During a search of the home, officers recovered two handguns and two long guns and ammunition. However the department has not been able to ascertain who the legal owners are.<\/p>\n
The weapons will be examined to see if they were recently fired.<\/p>\n
Bernhardt said there has been a lack of cooperation from the parents and the juveniles involved.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe don\u2019t believe anything they told us,\u201d Bernhardt said. \u201cIt\u2019s frustrating.\u201d<\/p>\n
Bernhardt said for now the investigation is ongoing but will most likely be closed due to the lack of evidence.<\/p>\n
