He tried,&#8221; Carroll said. &#8220;Couldn&#8217;t get it done in this amount of time. Have a really good chance to be back next week, so Kenny&#8217;s going to take the lead.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This is Pickett&#8217;s first start for the Raiders since they <a class=\"nfl-o-cta--link nfl-o-cta--underline\" style=\"word-break: break-word\" href=\"https:\/\/www.raiders.com\/news\/kenny-pickett-raiders-acquire-quarterback-nfl-2025-transactions-cleveland-browns\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">acquired him via trade<\/a> from the Cleveland Browns. Last Sunday, Pickett came into the game in relief of Smith and went 8-of-11 for 97 yards and a touchdown.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He&#8217;s done everything we could ask of him,&#8221; Carroll said. &#8220;He had an excellent week. He&#8217;s in command of what we&#8217;re doing, communications are good and all that. Got a little East Coast in him, so that won&#8217;t hurt. We&#8217;ll support him in every way that we can to have a good game.<\/p>\n<p>Pickett spent last season with the Eagles, where he played in five regular season games (one start) and two postseason contests as part of the Eagles&#8217; Super Bowl LIX run.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Kenny Pickett will start at quarterback against the Philadelphia Eagles, Head Coach Pete Carroll announced Friday.
