BUNCOMBE COUNTY, N.C. (WLOS) \u2014 A local holiday tradition is lighting its way up in Buncombe County once again.<\/p>\n

Return to Bethlehem is produced by the Asheville-Buncombe Community Christian Ministry (ABCCM) and staged this year at Groce United Methodist Church on Tunnel Road.<\/p>\n

MONTFORD HOLIDAY TOUR OF HOMES RETURNS FOR ITS 26TH YEAR<\/a><\/p>\n

The experience immerses visitors in the nativity story in a recreated Bethlehem marketplace with more than 50 volunteers helping make the production come to life.<\/p>\n

The event is ABCCM’s gift to the community for the support it receives as an area in which needs have grown.<\/p>\n

“This year has had its unique challenges, both with so many folks being homeless because of the hurricane, and then inflation and food costs, and then the cuts, and we’re scaring people about food stamps. We’ve seen double the number of people on average needing food; our medical ministry is up 25 percent in the last year,” said Reverend Scott Rogers, the executive director at ABCCM.<\/p>\n

ABCCM supports dozens of churches across western North Carolina, along with the region’s veteran community.<\/p>\n

Return to Bethlehem runs from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 12, 2 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, and 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 14.<\/p>\n
