Tristan Jarry<\/a> may not be a Pittsburgh Penguins goaltender for much longer. Despite a rough outing Thursday against the Montreal Canadiens, Sportsnet reporter Elliotte Friedman was first to market with the news that the Edmonton Oilers are pushing for the deal. <\/p>\n

According to Friedman, Edmonton is \u201cclosing in\u201d on the Jarry trade today. <\/p>\n

Pittsburgh Hockey Now can also confirm that Jarry has discussed the deal and is aware of the situation. A source described the trade talks as being in a delicate phase. <\/p>\n

UPDATE: The deal came about quickly. Multiple sources are reporting the Penguins are trading Jarry to Edmonton for goalie Stuart Skinner, defenseman Brett Kulak, and a 2029 second-round pick. <\/p>\n

Jarry stopped 24 of 28 Thursday night in the Penguins\u2019 distracted 4-2 loss to Montreal. However, Jarry has been resurgent this season. In 12 starts, he has posted a 9-3-1 record with a save percentage that dipped to .909 Thursday. <\/p>\n

Jarry had raised his save percentage to .913 following three straight starts last week. <\/p>\n

Earlier reports have indicated Penguins general manager Kyle Dubas<\/a> is unwilling to hold back any of Jarry\u2019s $5.375 million annual cap hit. Jarry has two more years after this season remaining on his five-year contract. <\/p>\n

Jarry\u2019s tenure with the Penguins has been one of promise and tumult. A pair of All-Star Game appearances buttress injury rumors and being waived last January before returning for a strong run in the final weeks of the season. <\/p>\n

Kulak, 31, is a stay-at-home defenseman with underrated offensive skills. In 30 games this season, he has just two assists. His primary function is to protect the net. He is in the final year of a four-year contract with a $2.75 million AAV. <\/p>\n

Skinner, 27, is the embattled goalie who has backstopped the team to consecutive Stanley Cup Final appearances, but has not necessarily been a team strength. This season, the 6-foot-4, 229-pound netminder has again struggled, posting an .891 save percentage in 23 appearances. <\/p>\n

Skinner is in the final year of a three-year contract carrying a $2.3 million AAV. <\/p>\n

2nd Update: The Penguins have also included prospect Sam Poulin in the deal. Poulin, 23, was the team\u2019s first-round pick in 2019 (21st overall).<\/p>\n

Poulin played well in two NHL games this season, but has played only 15 career NHL games, spending most of his five professional seasons with the Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton Penguins.<\/p>\n
