A joint investigation by the Lackawanna County District Attorney\u2019s Office and the Pennsylvania State Police has led to the arrest of a convicted felon found with multiple firearms, ammunition, and narcotics at a home in West Scranton.<\/p>\n
District Attorney Brian Gallagher announced that investigators executed a search warrant at 314 South Main Avenue, where 46-year-old Jerimiah Carmody was taken into custody. Authorities say they recovered four firearms, drug-packaging materials, and a quantity of suspected narcotics inside the residence.<\/p>\n
One of the guns was reported stolen from a separate vehicle theft incident in Scranton, investigators said.<\/p>\n
Carmody faces multiple felony charges, including possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession with intent to deliver, and receiving stolen property. Due to prior felony convictions, he is legally barred from possessing any firearms in Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n
DA Gallagher commended the coordinated work between county detectives and the state police\u2019s Troop R Vice Unit, emphasizing law enforcement\u2019s commitment to curbing gun and drug crimes in city neighborhoods.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis individual lived just one block from a city high school with this level of weaponry,\u201d Gallagher said. \u201cIt\u2019s a reminder of why we need continued, proactive enforcement to keep illegal guns and drugs off our streets.\u201d<\/p>\n
Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing.
