Erie County is hosting a free rabies vaccine on January 24, 2026 from 9am-1pm.<\/p>\n

ERIE COUNTY, N.Y. \u2014 Erie County is hosting its first free rabies vaccine clinic in 2026 and invites pet owners to take advantage.<\/p>\n

The free clinic will be hosted on January 24, 2026, at the North Buffalo Community Center from 9am-1pm.<\/p>\n

During 2025, our department has confirmed two rabid cats and a significant number of rabid bats, skunks and raccoons,” Said Deputy Director of Environmental Health Peter Tripi. \u201cWe also have worked with pet owners whose dogs have tangled with raccoons. Consider this a special reminder to vaccinate your dogs and cats, even if they don\u2019t spend much time outside. There is always the potential for contact with a bat.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pet owners can register online at erie.gov\/rabiesvaccine<\/a> or by calling 716-961-6800 during normal business hours. Erie County Department of Health says appointments are required. Up to three pets per appointment will be accepted.<\/p>\n

Dogs, cats, and ferrets that are three months of age or older are eligible. Pet owners are asked to bring proof of vaccination to receive a three-year certificate. A one-year certificate will be given to those without proof.<\/p>\n

All dogs must be secured with a collar and a non-retractable leash or restrained in a carrier.
