In a motion filed by Burke, he said there was not enough evidence to charge Krasley, saying that Krasley was never seen accessing the bin or container with the money in it.

“I commend District Attorney Holihan in his thorough review of this case with me and determining that the entire underpinnings of the motivations of the initial prosecution, including the preparation, investigation and charging of these offenses was improperly furthered before he personally took this case over and reviewed the matter,” Burke said Friday in a statement.

“Unfortunately, the very issues that justified the withdrawal of this unfounded case also were the foundation of my allegations in the cases that were conflicted and taken over by the Attorney General‘s office. I only hope that they review the case with the same foresight and conclude as he did, that the prosecution of Jason Krasley should be withdrawn.”

Krasley remains charged in four other cases, which were handed over to the state attorney general’s office over the summer because of a potential conflict of interest. Charges in those cases include rape, indecent assault and involuntary servitude.

He remains free on bail. He was once charged in seven different criminal cases, including the theft case. Two other cases alleging sex crimes were dismissed since, according to court records.

In one case, he and Sgt. Evan Weaver, 46, are charged with forcing a woman to perform sex acts.

Weaver was placed on administrative leave in January after the charges were announced.

The alleged theft incident, which the now-withdrawn charges stemmed from, was mentioned in a whistleblower lawsuit that accused Allentown police of retaliation and not properly addressing officers’ inappropriate behavior. The lawsuit, filed last year, was withdrawn at the end oft he year.

Krasley retired from the department in 2021. He has maintained his innocence.

Originally Published: October 17, 2025 at 2:51 PM EDT

Theft charges against a former Allentown police officer who is also charged with sex crimes were dropped Friday,…

[14
119,153,155,154,46,202,433,182,139,28,432
0":"post-6204","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-bethlehem","8":"tag-allentown","9":"tag-bethlehem","10":"tag-bethlehem-headlines","11":"tag-bethlehem-news","12":"tag-courts","13":"tag-crime-and-public-safety","14":"tag-lehigh-county","15":"tag-local-news","16":"tag-news","17":"tag-pennsylvania","18":"tag-top-stories-tmc
["GET
