Adolis Garcia<\/a> appears headed to the National League for the next chapter of his baseball career. <\/p>\n

The former Texas Rangers<\/a> outfielder is finalizing a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Phillies, a person familiar with the situation confirmed to The Dallas Morning News on Monday. The deal will be worth $10 million. <\/p>\n

The Rangers nontendered Garcia\u2019s contract last month<\/a> after another down year for the 2023 ALCS MVP. <\/p>\n

Garc\u00eda regressed offensively in consecutive seasons<\/a> after he was an All-Star and postseason hero two years ago. The 32-year-old\u2019s .675 OPS since the start of the 2024 season is the fourth-lowest among all hitters who\u2019ve accumulated at least 1,000 plate appearances and a steep drop from the career-best .836 OPS that he posted in the 2023 campaign that concluded with a World Series championship.<\/p>\n

He was a plus defender and a Gold Glove finalist this season, thanks in large part to better health, but could no longer be relied upon to anchor the heart of a lineup. Garc\u00eda slashed just .224\/.263\/.399 in the cleanup spot as the Rangers searched for the pop that was promised from him and the rest of a lineup that was expected to hit for power. He remained a fan favorite \u2014 and was often serenaded with as many or more cheers than any other player during pregame lineup introductions \u2014 despite his struggles.<\/p>\n
