Law enforcement officers recently seized four firearms from a convicted felon living on South Main Avenue in West Scranton, according to Lackawanna County District Attorney Brian Gallagher.<\/p>\n
On Oct. 16, Jeremiah Carmody, 46, of 314 S. Main Ave., was arrested and charged with felony firearm offenses, after county detectives and state troopers found the firearms, ammunition, drug-trafficking paraphernalia and a quantity of narcotics at his residence, while serving a search warrant.<\/p>\n
One of the firearms recovered was previously stolen from a vehicle in Scranton, investigators said.<\/p>\n
Gallagher commended the coordinated efforts of the Pennsylvania State Police and the County Detectives and emphasized law enforcement\u2019s continued commitment to eliminating drug trafficking and unlawful possession of firearms in neighborhoods.<\/p>\n
\u201cMy office and PSP remain committed to proactive policing, with an emphasis on getting guns off the street, which interrupts ongoing criminal activity,\u201d Gallagher said. \u201cThis individual has prior felony convictions and is precluded by law from possessing firearms.\u201d<\/p>\n
Gallagher pointed out the residence was one block from a city high school<\/p>\n
Carmody remains at Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail.
