Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, joined by state and local officials, announced funding for an economic development project in Erie Friday.<\/p>\n
In a press conference along the bayfront, Shapiro announced the commonwealth will provide $9.5 million in funding for a new market house along the west Bayfront.<\/p>\n
That is the remaining balance needed to fund the project, Shapiro said.<\/p>\n
In addition, a group of Great Lakes governors and Canadian premiers will be in Erie for a conference in 2027.<\/p>\n
The conference will highlight development in the area.<\/p>\n
The U.S. Brig Niagara will return to Erie next year, Shapiro said.<\/p>\n
It will be featured as part of America250 celebrations.<\/p>\n
