Today, the 48th Mayor of the City of Erie, Joe Schember, delivered one of his final speeches, reflecting on eight years of progress and public service. During his tenure, the administration focused on celebrating diversity, stabilizing city finances, revitalizing neighborhoods, strengthening public safety, and reducing crime.<\/p>\n
\u201cI ran for this office because I wanted to make a positive difference, and it has been the honor of my life to serve this city,\u201d the mayor said. \u201cThe most rewarding part of this job has always been the people\u2014meeting you, listening to you, and working every day to make life better in our community.\u201d<\/p>\n
The mayor expressed deep gratitude to Erie residents for their trust and support, emphasizing that public service is a privilege and that he has been proud to serve as a steward of the city.<\/p>\n
As part of the event, Keys to the City were presented to Chris Groner, Director of the Office of Development Services; Deb Smith, Director of Economic and Community Development; Daryl Craig, Community Liaison; and City of Erie Police Captain Tony Talarico in recognition of their dedication and service.<\/p>\n
The mayor also thanked his family for their unwavering support throughout his time in office.<\/p>\n
