In his prime time address, President Trump shared this about gas prices:<\/p>\n

“Gasoline is now under $2.50 a gallon in much of the country. In some states, it just hit by the way is $1.99 a gallon,” he said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

For some people listening to the address, those figures doesn’t add up.<\/p>\n

“I would like to see where that is. I haven’t seen no prices like that,” said Lehigh Valley resident Anthony Edwards.<\/p>\n

If you check prices along Allentown’s 4th Street, regular runs the gamut from $2,89, $2.93, $2.99 and $3.15 a gallon.<\/p>\n

$1.99 is no where in sight.<\/p>\n

“I want to know where, because it’s not here. It’s not around here,” said Lehigh Valley resident Kimberly Belles.<\/p>\n

AAA tracks gas prices county by county nationwide.<\/p>\n

All you have to do is go to gasprices.aaa.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The cheapest gas we could find was in two counties in Texas selling regular for $2.12 a gallon.<\/p>\n

“The national average for gas prices today across America is $2.89 and in Pennsylvania, it’s about $3.12,” said Jim Garrity AAA Director of Public Affairs.<\/p>\n

Garrity says while you will be hard pressed to find gas at $1.99, gas prices have come down significantly.<\/p>\n

Garrity saying last year at this time we were paying $3.03 a gallon.<\/p>\n

The disparity between what we’re paying and what the president said has some folks frustrated.<\/p>\n

“Don’t just pull a number out of thin air or try to make people feel better. Tell us the reality,” said Lehigh Valley resident Chris Snyder.<\/p>\n

While others are hopeful.<\/p>\n

“I’m very hopeful that it comes to $1.99 here. That would be awesome,” said Dan Gates.<\/p>\n

“He’s trying to get it to that point, you know, just got to take some time. He just got in office, you know,” said John Kline.<\/p>\n

AAA says gas prices are contingent on a number of factors, the price of oil, taxes, demand and the cost of the gas itself.<\/p>\n
