WHITEHALL TWP., Pa. – A popular destination for chicken sandwiches, nuggets and more is bidding farewell in Lehigh County.<\/p>\n
A location of Chick-fil-A, a quick-service restaurant company known for its freshly-prepared chicken selections, will cease operations at 2 p.m. Dec. 31 at the Lehigh Valley Mall in Whitehall Township, according to signage at the restaurant.<\/p>\n

In July, Chick-fil-A, Inc. confirmed the location\u2019s upcoming closure with a statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has been our pleasure to serve each and every Guest at this location for the past 27 years, and we look forward to continuing to serve the surrounding community at our nearby locations,\u201d the statement reads.<\/p>\n
The restaurant, located on the mall’s lower level near the main entrance, has been a fixture at the mall for almost three decades. It originally operated on the mall’s upper level.<\/p>\n
Chick-fil-A is a family-owned and privately held company founded in 1967 by S. Truett Cathy, according to a company description.<\/p>\n

More than 200,000 team members are employed by local owner-operators in more than 3,000 restaurants across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n
A handful of other Chick-fil-A restaurants operate in the Lehigh Valley, including another Whitehall restaurant at 2610 MacArthur Road.<\/p>\n
Chick-fil-A opened its first restaurant in the UK in early 2025 with the goal of launching five locations across the UK within the next two years. The first Singapore restaurant is set to open in late 2025, marking the brand’s entry into Asia.<\/p>\n
More food and dining updates<\/p>\n
At the Lehigh Valley Mall, Chick-fil-A operates alongside more than 20 other restaurants and food and beverage destinations, including other quick-service eateries such as Chipotle Mexican Grill and Shake Shack and full-service spots such as Bonefish Grill and Red Lobster.<\/p>\n
In recent years, the mall has welcomed a handful of other restaurants and food stands, including The Cheesecake Factory and D’Colombia Restaurant & Bakery<\/a>.<\/p>\n In October, Drink Fresh by Djurdjura opened on the mall\u2019s upper level across from LensCrafters.<\/p>\n Drink Fresh by Djurdura operates at the Lehigh Valley Mall in Whitehall Township.<\/p>\n Ryan Kneller<\/p>\n It occupies space that was previously home to other eateries, including Subway, Almost Vegan and, most recently, Spice N Shake.<\/p>\n Drink Fresh by Djurdjura customers can enjoy a wide variety of freshly prepared smoothies, juices, acai bowls, Dubai chocolate cups and more.<\/p>\n In August, Blue Ridge Estate Vineyard & Winery, offering specialty wines and scenic views at 239 Blue Ridge Road in Saylorsburg, opened a new location at the Lehigh Valley Mall’s outdoor lifestyle center<\/a>.<\/p>\n At Blue Ridge’s new Whitehall location, guests are able to enjoy Blue Ridge’s full lineup of wines, including varieties such as riesling, pinot grigio, sauvignon blanc, pink catawba, white and red sangrias, bourbon barrel-aged merlot, scotch barrel-aged chardonnay and American oak barrel cabernet sauvignon.<\/p>\n Businesses coming soon to the mall include Dunkin’ and Nori Japan.<\/p>\n Nori Japan, an eatery offering Japanese cuisine, is coming soon to a lower-level space that previously housed Tasty Bitez.<\/p>\n The new Nori Japan restaurant will provide a full range of Japanese dishes, including teriyaki options freshly prepared right in front of customers on a tepanyaki grill, according to an online description.<\/p>\n Other menu highlights will include tempura, sesame chicken, kushiyaki and assorted sushi rolls.<\/p>\n \u201cOur dishes are prepared fresh daily with the finest ingredients,\u201d the online description reads. \u201cOur Japanese recipes are developed by master chefs with care to deliver the highest quality and authenticity.\u201d<\/p>\n A target opening date for the new Nori Japan location has not been announced.<\/p>\n Dunkin\u2019, the country\u2019s largest coffee and doughnuts brand, is coming soon to the Lehigh Valley Mall\u2019s lower level near the escalators.<\/p>\n The new Dunkin\u2019 location will occupy a kiosk that was previously home to a Starbucks location, which closed last year.<\/p>\n A target opening date for the new Dunkin\u2019 kiosk has not yet been announced.<\/p>\n The Lehigh Valley Mall has also bid farewell to some businesses this year.<\/p>\n Pocono Brewery Company\u2019s Lehigh Valley taproom closed in February<\/a> at the Lehigh Valley Mall\u2019s outdoor lifestyle center.<\/p>\n The Lehigh Valley taproom opened in early 2019 at the former Ann Taylor space and supplemented Pocono Brewery Company\u2019s flagship location, which continues to operate at 2092 Route 611 in the Swiftwater section of Pocono Township, Monroe County.<\/p>\n The craft brewery and family restaurant was founded in June 2017 by Silvio Vitiello and his sons, Jean-Luc and Silvio M. Vitiello.<\/p>\n \u201cDue to the opening of the brewery near us, the competition became an issue,\u201d Jean-Luc said at the time, referencing the now-closed Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant location at Lehigh Valley Mall. \u201cWe\u2019re looking to open another location in a more welcoming community, maybe in Bethlehem or Easton.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
