PITTSBURGH \u2014 A man was found shot dead inside a Pittsburgh home when officers responded to a call for a woman who had been assaulted.<\/p>\n
Officers got called to the home in the 2600 block of Winchester Drive in Banksville just after 9:45 a.m. <\/p>\n
When inside the home, police said they found a woman with significant facial lacerations and injuries. She was taken to a hospital in critical condition. <\/p>\n
Police then performed a protective sweep of the home and found a man who had been shot in the head on the second floor. He was pronounced dead at the scene.<\/p>\n
Pittsburgh police continue to investigate.<\/p>\n
Neighbors on this otherwise quiet street say they were shocked to see police flood the area this morning.<\/p>\n
\u201cI went out this morning, which is unusual for me. I had to do some grocery shopping,\u201d neighbor Debbie Carso said. \u201cWhen I came home, the street was lined with cop cars. I stopped to ask if everything was OK, and they wouldn\u2019t tell me anything \u2014 just said that I was safe and could go home.\u201d<\/p>\n
Carso says she knew the couple well and never imagined things would turn violent.<\/p>\n
\u201cAbsolutely unexpected. I mean, I know they got into arguments \u2014 she got upset with him like any married couple \u2014 but I certainly didn\u2019t know it would lead to this kind of violence.\u201d<\/p>\n
Multiple neighbors told us they are praying hard for the woman who was critically injured, saying she was kind to everyone. <\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m just sorry this happened,\u201d Carso said.<\/p>\n
