Widoktadwen\u00a0Center for Native Knowledge invites the community to celebrate Native American winter traditions at its\u00a0inaugural\u00a0Winter Solstice Gathering & Feast\u00a0on\u00a0Sunday, Dec. 21, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the\u00a0social\u00a0hall of Zion Spies Lutheran Church, 310 Spies Church Road, Reading.<\/p>\n
The Winter Solstice is a sacred season in many Indigenous cultures, marked by reflection and the sharing of traditional stories\u00a0only told\u00a0in the winter.\u00a0The gathering aims to bring the community together to honor these traditions through food, storytelling, and craft.<\/p>\n
The event itinerary includes:<\/p>\n
Potluck feast:\u00a0A community meal beginning at 11 a.m. Attendees are encouraged to\u00a0sign up online<\/a>\u00a0to bring a dish to share.Winter storytelling:\u00a0Sharing of traditional Native American stories reserved for the winter months.\u00a0Storytelling begins at noon.Community giveaway:\u00a0A traditional practice honoring the spirit of the season. Guests are welcome to bring a small gift to add to the giveaway table.Monthly beading circle:\u00a0The afternoon will conclude with a beading circle beginning at 1 p.m. Attendees are invited to bring their own craft projects, though limited supplies will be available on-site.<\/p>\n
