ALLENTOWN, Pa. – A person is dead, and two others are hurt, after a shooting at a bar in\u00a0Allentown early Friday morning.<\/p>\n
Officers responded to the center at the 1300 block of Hanover Avenue for a reported shooting around 1:30 a.m., according to a news release from the Allentown Police Department. A photo from the scene showed police tape set up outside Big Woody’s Sports Bar & Restaurant.<\/p>\n
Officers found two victims with gunshot wounds, city police said.<\/p>\n
Allentown police said initial information revealed that a fight precipitated the shooting.<\/p>\n
Officers gave first aid to the victims, who were then taken to an area hospital for treatment. One victim later died,\u00a0according to the news release.<\/p>\n
The Lehigh County Coroner’s Office said in a news release the victim was a 34-year-old Allentown man. The man has been positively identified, and the family and next of kin have been notified; his identity is being withheld at this time to allow the family to grieve privately, the coroner’s office said.<\/p>\n
The man’s identity is anticipated to be released Friday afternoon, the coroner’s office said in its news release.<\/p>\n
The\u00a0coroner’s office said it ruled the manner of death as a homicide.<\/p>\n
City police said the other victim is expected to survive his injuries, according to the news release. A short while later, an additional victim from the shooting arrived at a nearby hospital and is being treated, city police said.<\/p>\n

Police said the investigation is active and ongoing, and there is no danger to the community at this time.<\/p>\n
Allentown Mayor Matt Tuerk addressed the shooting in a statement posted on Instagram: “I am aware of the tragic incident overnight, and my heart is with the families affected, especially during the holiday season. I urge our community to act with wisdom and compassion and to reject violence. This was an isolated incident, now under investigation by the\u00a0Allentown Police Department, and it does not define\u00a0Allentown.”<\/p>\n
The Allentown Police, Lehigh County DA\u2019s Office, Lehigh County Homicide Task Force, and the Lehigh County Coroner\u2019s Office are investigating.<\/p>\n
