{"id":65501,"date":"2025-12-19T19:06:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-19T19:06:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/65501\/"},"modified":"2025-12-19T19:06:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-19T19:06:09","slug":"heavy-rain-causes-flooding-and-traffic-troubles-across-the-philadelphia-area","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/65501\/","title":{"rendered":"Heavy rain causes flooding and traffic troubles across the Philadelphia area"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Flooding across the area has led to continued issues following heavy rain on Friday morning.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Major interstates, such as the Blue Route, were backed up due to multiple crashes and flooded lanes that slowed traffic.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">Crews were seen hard at work trying to clear storm drains in the eastbound lanes of the Schuylkill Expressway before the Belmont Avenue exit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">In Stanton, Delaware, the cleanup is underway after a tree snapped and fell on a truck.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">The driver tells Action News he had been inside the truck seconds before it happened.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;I just checked the windows to make sure they were up, &#8221; said Kevin Finch. &#8220;Walked inside and heard the crash.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">And while the heavy rain has pushed off the coast, PennDOT says this is still a dangerous weather day, especially because of the forecasted winds and plunging temperatures coming later in the day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"mb-4 text-lg md:leading-8 break-words\">&#8220;I expect it to be a long night for crews,&#8221; said Brad Rudolph from PennDOT. &#8220;Hopefully, we dry out with those winds, and hopefully it kind of helps us.
