Gunfire early Friday morning left a 34-year-old man dead at an East Allentown restaurant, authorities said.<\/p>\n
The Lehigh County Coroner\u2019s Office identified the victim as David J. Gibbs of Allentown. Gibbs was pronounced dead at 2:40 a.m. Friday at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Muhlenberg in Bethlehem, Lehigh County Coroner Daniel Buglio said. <\/p>\n
Buglio ruled the death a homicide caused by gunshot wounds. An autopsy is planned for Monday.<\/p>\n
City police were called for the reported shooting at about 1:30 a.m. inside the Big Woody\u2019s restaurant, in the 1300 block of Hanover Avenue. Officers found two male victims with gunshot wounds and rendered first aid.<\/p>\n
One of the injured victims was taken to an area hospital for treatment of injuries and another arrived at an area hospital in a private vehicle. Both are expected to survive their injuries, Allentown Assistant Police Chief James Gress said.<\/p>\n
Investigators believe the shooting incident began as a fight, city police said. Asked if anyone is in custody, Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin Holihan said the investigation remains ongoing. <\/p>\n
Holihan said, \u201c… from what we have learned so far, there doesn\u2019t appear to be any risk to the public connected to this incident.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cI will release more information when I am able to,\u201d the DA added<\/p>\n
A dayshift manager who answered the phone at the Big Woody\u2019s Hanover Avenue location told lehighvalleylive.com they didn\u2019t know anything about what happened the evening before, since that shift is covered by a separate evening crew.<\/p>\n
The eatery planned to open for business at 11 a.m. Friday.<\/p>\n
The Allentown Police Department, Lehigh County District Attorney\u2019s Office, Lehigh County Homicide Task Force and the Lehigh County Coroner\u2019s Office are investigating.<\/p>\n
