ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Two police officers were taken to the hospital Friday after a fire in Allentown.\u00a0<\/p>\n
At approximately 1:45 p.m., officers responded to the 700 block of South 10th Street for a report of a house fire with a person inside who was experiencing a mental health crisis and possibly armed, according to Allentown police.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Upon arrival, Allentown police officers and members of the Allentown fire department made entry into the house and rescued the occupant, police said.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The occupant, as well as two police officers, were taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation and are recovering, according to officials.\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Allentown police officers were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, fire officials reported.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Two adults will be displaced following the fire.
