One person died and one remained in critical condition on Saturday night after a fire at Llanarch Place Apartments, 3200 W. Township Line Road, in Upper Darby Township.<\/p>\n
In addition, several others were transported to area hospitals and one firefighter was transported for burn injuries, and later released.<\/p>\n
The call went out about 10:30 Saturday morning and eventually went to a second alarm in about 15 minutes.<\/p>\n
According to the township fire department, crews quickly discovered a working fire on the second floor of the three-story apartment complex.<\/p>\n
Two residents were rescued at that time. Both had significant injuries. The fire department didn\u2019t specify whether one of them had later died.<\/p>\n
The fire was contained to one apartment, officials said. A half-dozen other residents were transported from the scene for non-life-threatening injuries, the fire department said.<\/p>\n
There are about 75 residents of the apartment complex and all will be displaced by the fire for an determined amount of the time, officials said.<\/p>\n
Delaware County emergency services, the Red Cross and Salvation Army were playing roles in helping those people, officials said.<\/p>\n
During the firefighting, the nearby Craig\u2019s Tavern was opened as a warm-up spot.<\/p>\n
The fire is under investigation by the township marshal\u2019s office and the police department along with a state police fire marshal.<\/p>\n
Also, Murphy\u2019s Giving Market in Upper Darby posted this: \u201cThere was a massive fire in our community. Murphys will be open to take clothing donations and gift cards.\u201d<\/p>\n
The Red Cross added this: \u201cAlong with our community partners, the American Red Cross Southeastern Pennsylvania Region has opened a reception center at Drexel Hill Middle School, 3001 State Road, for residents impacted by today\u2019s fire at Llanerch Place Apartments.
