Dunderbak\u2019s<\/a> at the Lehigh Valley Mall may have found a path to remain open beyond its planned February 2026 closure date.<\/p>\n

Owner Bill Baker announced in a Facebook post<\/a> that the restaurant is in discussions with interested parties about purchasing the business. If a sale moves forward, the transition to new ownership will likely occur after the original target date of Feb. 28, 2026.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are in discussions with interested parties for the purchase of Dunderbak\u2019s at the Lehigh Valley Mall,\u201d Baker wrote on the restaurant\u2019s Facebook page. \u201cIt is likely that should any of these inquiries lead to the sale of the restaurant, that the transition to new ownership will be after our target date of February 28, 2026. Therefore, we intend to operate afterwards on a month-to-month basis until a settlement date is determined,\u201d Baker wrote on the restaurant\u2019s Facebook page.<\/p>\n

Baker first announced during the summer that he would close the restaurant permanently<\/a> if he couldn\u2019t find a new owner by February 2026. He cited a desire to retire as the reason for the decision.<\/p>\n

The German American restaurant holds the distinction of being the longest continuously operated, independently owned business at the mall. Baker and his partner launched Dunderbak\u2019s at the Whitehall Township mall in November 1977.<\/p>\n
