\n Reading FC’s Andy Yiadom started his first league game under Leam Richardson in the Royals 3-2 win against Luton at the Select Car Leasing, whilst Manchester City loanee Finley Burns made his first appearance for the blue and white’s since October.\n<\/p>\n
\n Finley Burns has so far made 14 appearances for Reading across all competitions having started 12 games in the league.\n<\/p>\n
\n The 22-year-old defender had not made an appearance for the Royals since Noel Hunt’s departure in October. Richardson included him on the bench in Reading’s clashes against Blackpool, Peterborough, Bradford – He played four minutes against Luton when he came on as a substitute for Andy Yiadom.\n<\/p>\n
\n Andy Yiadom has made 12 appearances for Reading this season across all competitions – having only started one game in the league.\n<\/p>\n
\n When asked if this is a sign that the two players would feature more often for Reading, Richardson said: “I think that’s why there’s a squad.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Thankfully I’ve been involved in a few promotions and I don’t think we’ve ever done it with 11 players. It’s all about a squad. It’s all about how we work hard.\n<\/p>\n
\n “As a footballer, I’ve been there myself where you feel you’re so far away from the team, but then all of a sudden you end up in the team and playing 20, 30 games. It’s important. That’s why we’re called professionals.\n<\/p>\n
\n “The professionalism has to be there. You have to be ready. You have to know your job, the role in the team.\n<\/p>\n
\n “I’ve got a big thing within our squad and the way I work where personnel will change, but job spec will be consistent, whether that’s through form, suspensions, injuries.\n<\/p>\n
\n “Ultimately, the team will change naturally anyway, but the job spec will stay the same.”\n<\/p>\n
\n Burns spent his formative years in Southend United’s Academy between the ages of nine and 14, before signing into the Manchester City youth setup in 2017 for a fee of \u00a3175,000.\n<\/p>\n
\n He would go on to make his First Team debut at the Etihad Stadium in his side’s 6-1 EFL Cup victory against Wycombe Wanderers in September 2021.\n<\/p>\n
\n His first campaign in men’s football came when he joined Stevenage on a season long loan in 2023\/24. He made 43 appearances across all competitions for the Boro in a campaign that saw them finish 9th in Sky Bet League One.\n<\/p>\n
