Thursday marked the 32nd year of Bob Bolus’s free Christmas dinner.<\/p>\n
SCRANTON, Pa. \u2014 It was a day filled with full stomachs and full hearts in part of Scranton.<\/p>\n
Bob Bolus held his annual free Christmas dinner at St. Patrick’s Church along Jackson Street.<\/p>\n
Organizers say the goal of the dinner is to feed those in need and make sure no one spends the holiday alone.<\/p>\n
“Some who don’t have families. Some who don’t have the means to have food on their own, and it’s just, I don’t want to cry–It’s just so beautiful to see that all of these people can get a meal on Christmas,” said Mary Lou Cherochak of Jessup.<\/p>\n
“It’s just something I believed in. We have a lot of people home alone. We have people with PTSD, and this is a way for them to come here, enjoy the camaraderie, have a nice warm meal,” said Bob Bolus, organizer.<\/p>\n
They served more than 6,000 meals today\u2014a stark difference from 150 dinners when the annual giveaway started 32 years ago in Scranton.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Thursday marked the 32nd year of Bob Bolus’s free Christmas dinner.
