RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – The Rapid City Public Library\u2019s Winter Reading Challenge is now underway.<\/p>\n
Readers of all ages can undertake the challenge for a chance to win a grand prize.<\/p>\n
Children are challenged to read for at least 15 minutes a day and keep a reading log.<\/p>\n
Teens and adults are challenged to fill out various bingo cards with reading-related activities to complete.<\/p>\n
Events Coordinator Aly Quinn said, \u201cWe\u2019ve been doing winter reading challenges for quite a few years now, and it\u2019s been great to see them grow every year. The participation has been wonderful, and we\u2019re so grateful for all of our generous sponsors and donors who make the incentives for this great program really fun.\u201d<\/p>\n
The library over the years has seen an amazing outcome with the community from this challenge. <\/p>\n
Quinn said, \u201cIt\u2019s been really great to see this program grow over the years especially since I came in about 5 years ago, we\u2019ve noticed increase participation throughout the years, we\u2019ve noticed people coming in and just looking for fun things to do during the winter break, ways to stay engaged, not only with the community, but education wise as well.\u201d<\/p>\n
The reading log and bingo cards are available at the library and online<\/a>. Children will have until Jan. 17 to submit their reading logs at the library. Teens and adults need to submit completed cards by Saturday at 6 p.m. to enter that week\u2019s prize drawing.
