HARTFORD, Conn. \u2014 The Wilkes-Barre\/Scranton Penguins picked up their third-straight win to start off the season Friday night.<\/p>\n
The locals jumped out to a two-goal lead after one period, fired 32 shots on goal and coasted to a 5-2 win over Hartford to move to 3-0.<\/p>\n
Atley Calvert led the charge with two goals, including one in the first period to give the Penguins a 2-0 lead after one after Rafaei Harvey-Pinard scored 12 minutes into the game off assists from Chase Pietila and Ryan Graves.<\/p>\n
Avery Hayes\u2019 power-play goal, his second of the season, gave WBS a 3-0 lead before two straight Wolfpack goals trimmed the deficit to 3-2 with 14 minutes left.<\/p>\n
Calvert\u2019s second goal of the year increased the lead to 4-2 with nine minutes remaining before Tristan Broz slammed the door shut with less than three minutes left.<\/p>\n
Sergei Murashov stopped 28 of 30 shots.<\/p>\n
WBS (3-0) stays in Connecticut for a Saturday showdown with Bridgeport, scheduled for a 7:05 p.m. start.
