{"id":71725,"date":"2025-12-28T06:14:09","date_gmt":"2025-12-28T06:14:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/71725\/"},"modified":"2025-12-28T06:14:09","modified_gmt":"2025-12-28T06:14:09","slug":"city-of-pittsburgh-shares-2026-recycling-information-wpxi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.newsbeep.com\/us-pa\/71725\/","title":{"rendered":"City of Pittsburgh shares 2026 recycling information \u2013 WPXI"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">PITTSBURGH \u2014 The City of Pittsburgh has shared its 2026 recycling information for residents.<\/p>\n<p>Electronic Waste and Household Hazardous Waste<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The city will contract a new vendor, Noble Environmental, to handle electronic waste and household hazardous waste disposal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Residents can choose from weekly drop-offs, curbside pickups and community events to dispose of e-waste and HHW. Pre-registration is required for each option and can be done online at NobleEnviro.com\/Pittsburgh or by calling 412-567-6566. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Residents will be responsible for a disposal fee. Cash and checks will no longer be accepted.<\/p>\n<p>Refuse and Recycling<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Residents can recycle certain materials at the curb or at drop-off sites. Those materials include:<\/p>\n<p>Plastic jugs, jars, bottles and tubsGlass bottles, jugs and jarsSteel, aluminum and empty aerosol cansFlattened cardboardMixed paper, such as junk mail, magazines, office paper, newspaper, paperboard and books<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Residents can also recycle waste, tires and scrap metal at the Department of Public Works\u2019 2nd, 3rd and 5th Divisions\u2019 drop-off locations.<\/p>\n<p>Saturday Yard Waste Collections<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Saturday yard waste collections are scheduled for April 25 and Nov. 7.<\/p>\n<p>Safety Tips<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Residents are asked to keep trash and recycling containers to less than 35 pounds in weight and 35 gallons in size to keep workers safe.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Broken glass should be sealed in boxes or heavy paper bags.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Sharps \u2014 such as needles, syringes and lancets \u2014 should be disposed of in sturdy plastic containers like detergent bottles labelled \u201cmedical waste.\u201d These should be put in the trash and not in a recycling bin.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Anything contaminated with bedbugs or cockroaches must be sealed in plastic bags or wrapped in plastic.<\/p>\n<p>Items Not Accepted Curbside<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">Some items can\u2019t be disposed of curbside because they\u2019re dangerous or violate certain regulations, officials say. That includes TVs and computer electronics, building materials, household chemicals, batteries, car parts and freon appliances.
