EASTON, Nj. – One Easton business is seeing the sober trend taking off.<\/p>\n
Many people are stocking up on bottles for their New Year\u2019s celebration, but some are switching up their alcohol by entirely taking it out.<\/p>\n
\u201cAll non-alcoholic,\u201d said Jackie Rueda, the co-owner and founder of Tonic by Green Vida.<\/p>\n
The shop on North Fourth Street is Lehigh Valley\u2019s only zero proof bottle shop.<\/p>\n
\u201cSome people come in and they\u2019re asking for vodka or you know certain whiskey and we\u2019re like, \u2018This is zero proof, everything non-alcoholic,\u2019 and they\u2019ll either be intrigued and look at stuff or they\u2019ll just walk right out and be like, \u2018No,\u2019\u201d said Rueda.<\/p>\n
Since opening in October of 2024, she says they\u2019ve seen a demand for zero proof, especially in younger generations.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think it\u2019s because there\u2019s just more information out there on how alcohol impacts your health, but they still want to drink, they still want something classy, sophisticated, something elevated that they can drink,\u201d she explained.<\/p>\n
Many of those waves come during \u2018Dry January,\u2019 where those participating take the month off from drinking.<\/p>\n
Not drinking alcohol for the month of January may not sound like a long time, but many health benefits come out of it such as clearer skin, better sleep quality, and even losing weight.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have spirits that have B12, B vitamins, you know ashwagandha, L-theanine, and actual vitamins that will help you while you\u2019re drinking,\u201d Rueda said.<\/p>\n
