Once the disbelief wore off, Pugh and Lewis met \u2014 as estranged friends \u2014 to read over their letters and realized they\u2019d actually met in person during their correspondence in the \u201990s, though neither remembered it.<\/p>\n
\u201cI have always just felt like Megan was such a special person, and we really connected. It\u2019s just amazing that for whatever reason, our universes collided again 30 years later,\u201d Pugh told the outlet.<\/p>\n
\u201cI feel like that just means we\u2019re meant to be connected forever,\u201d Lewis added.<\/p>\n
Pugh delivered Lewis\u2019 two children. WPVI<\/p>\n
Pugh entertained Lewis\u2019 innocent wonder as a child in everything from gymnastics to cats, the letters shared with the outlet showed.<\/p>\n
After high school, Pugh joined the military before pivoting back to her hometown with the explicit goal of \u201c[taking] care of people.\u201d It was \u201creally fun\u201d to learn she was incidentally helping \u201cpeople that [she] knew when [she] was younger,\u201d Pugh told the outlet.<\/p>\n

Some other pen pals set up by social organizations, like the Girl Scouts, have maintained decades-long bonds \u2014 and even shelled out thousands of dollars to arrange meet-ups.<\/p>\n
