Better-Maid has secured a new location in Scott Township. After announcing a temporary closure and move this summer<\/a>, the popular Crafton Heights donut shop wrote on its Instagram page<\/a> that \u201cafter a few months of ups and downs,\u201d it \u201cfound a great spot with a commercial kitchen\u201d and signed a lease on Dec. 24. Better Maid will take over the former Albero Verde restaurant space in Scott Towne Center. A reopening date has not been set yet.<\/p>\n

The Richard DeShantz Restaurant Group will launch its latest concept, Sea Monkey, with a New Year\u2019s Eve celebration<\/a>. According to its website<\/a> and event page, the nightlife spot in the Strip District will bring \u201cupscale island-vibe energy and glowing cocktail culture,\u201d featuring DJs and curated events and a Mediterranean-Asian fusion menu. Sea Monkey\u2019s NYE Celebration will kick off on Wed., Dec. 31 at 10 p.m. General admission tickets<\/a> cost $75 and include complimentary sparkling champagne at midnight.<\/p>\n

What does Downtown dining need in 2026? How about sushi tacos? Sushi I will reopen as Okane Sushi Bar and Omakase on Fri., Jan. 2. The Japanese restaurant, which took over the former Harris Grill space in April<\/a> and has recently been closed for construction, debuted a menu<\/a> including soup, salad, rice pizza (not a typo), and other starters, as well as sushi tacos featuring meat and seafood served in a crispy nori (Japanese seaweed) shell. Bitty & Beau\u2019s Coffee

Bitty & Beau\u2019s Coffee in the Strip District closed on Dec. 23 after 20 months in business. The Pittsburgh Business Times reports<\/a> the shop posted a note on its front door addressed to \u201cValued Customers.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWith heavy hearts, we will be closing our Bitty and Beau\u2019s Coffee Shop in Pittsburgh on December 23, 2025, due to unsustainable financial loss,\u201d the note read. \u201cOur shop has been a beacon of inclusivity, hope and joy; we are so grateful for the opportunity to have served each of you in the city of Pittsburgh!\u201d<\/p>\n

Bitty and Beau\u2019s, a North Carolina-based coffee chain, opened its Pittsburgh location and 19th shop in April 2024<\/a>. Launched by the Wright family in 2016 and billed as the \u201coriginal\u201d inclusive coffee shop, the cafe and roastery is known for employing staff with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD).<\/p>\n
