service between Pittsburgh and Dublin<\/a> is music to the ears of southwestern Pennsylvania\u2019s business community, which not only has extensive ties to the Emerald Isle but also hopes of companies from there setting up shop here.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cI think it\u2019s going to be of massive importance to be able to recruit companies,\u201d said Matt Smith, chief growth officer of the Allegheny Conference on Community Development.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">One of the first questions economic development officials get when they talk to companies, whether domestically or internationally, is about the connecting airline service.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cAdding another international market we\u2019re serving, it\u2019s a huge advantage,\u201d said Smith, who is also vice chair of the Allegheny County Airport Authority. \u201cFrom our perspective, there\u2019s an intangible benefit of being able to add this in as part of our arsenal when we go out.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The four-times-a-week flights will begin May 25 on Airbus A321XLR aircraft, with 184 seats including 16 lie-flat business class seats. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bizjournals.com\/pittsburgh\/news\/2025\/12\/11\/how-pittsburgh-landed-aer-lingus.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The first years will be subsidized by a $5.25 million grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\"><a
