A Philadelphia man has been charged with attempting to lure a girl into his pickup truck in Upper Darby and police are asking the public if anyone has had similar interactions.<\/p>\n
In a social media post, township police said they responded Monday to reports of a suspicious vehicle in the 8200 block of West Chester Pike.<\/p>\n
A 13-year-old said an adult male in a white Dodge Ram pickup truck followed her while she was walking, and attempted to coerce her into his vehicle.<\/p>\n
She refused and sought help at a nearby business, where an adult witness confronted the driver, who then left the area.<\/p>\n
Police were able to identify the suspect and take him into custody. He will face criminal charges for his actions, police said.<\/p>\n
Court records indicate Dwayne B. Austin, of Philadelphia was charged with stalking and luring a child into a motor vehicle.<\/p>\n
Austin was arraigned before District Judge Dawn L. Vann, who set bail at 10 percent of $40,000 which Austin has not posted. He was taken to Delaware County prison.<\/p>\n
Upper Darby police ask that if anyone has information of similar incidents involving a white Dodge Ram pickup truck they are urged to contact police immediately at (610) 734-7693, SocialMedia@udpd.org or through their social media sites.<\/p>\n
