He is survived by his devoted wife of 67 years, Lois Engle Kriger.<\/p>\n<p>\nBorn and raised in Dickson City, Al was the son of the late Elmer and Mary Grzenda Kriger. A man of integrity, hard work, and vision, Al began his career as a certified welder, working on gas and water lines for Pennsylvania Gas and Water Company, where he was widely regarded as one of the finest welders in the companys history. His dedication, craftsmanship, and pride in his work laid the foundation for a legacy that would span generations.<\/p>\n<p>\nIn 1974, Al founded Kriger Construction in Dickson City. What began as a small local operation grew into a respected and enduring family business through his leadership and commitment. His daughter, Linda, and his son, Alfred Butch\u2019 Kriger, worked alongside him, helping to build not only a successful company but also a legacy rooted in trust, opportunity, and family values. In later years, Al took great pride in watching his grandchildren carry that legacy forward, often visiting job sites to cheer them on and share his wisdom.<\/p>\n<p>\nA lifelong parishioner of Peace Lutheran Church in Scranton, Al\u2019s faith guided his life and shaped his commitment to family and community. He will be remembered not only for his strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit, but also for his kindness, humility, and deep love for those around him.<\/p>\n<p>\nAl is survived by his daughter, Linda Malinowski of Dickson City, his son, Alfred Butch Kriger and wife Wilda of Dickson City; grandchildren, James Marzolino and wife, Stephanie of Waverly, George Shibley and companion Kristen Castellano of Dickson City, and Marc Shibley and wife Corisa of Dickson City; Jamie Kriger and wife Saleena of Dickson City, Joel Robert Kriger and wife Breighan of Dickson City; his eleven great-grandchildren; his sister, Elmae Whelan, Florida; nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n<p>\nHe was preceded in death by his brother, Howard Kriger Sr., his sisters, Charlotte Hafich and Ruth Ravinskas, and his son-in-law, Joseph Huns Malinowski.<\/p>\n<p>\nFamily and friends are invited to pay their respects on Friday, January 2, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff Street, Dickson City. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 3, at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a church service at 11:00 a.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 2506 North Main Street, Scranton.
