Erie County communities will receive nearly $3 million in state funding through PennDOT\u2019s Green Light-Go Program, Senator Dan Laughlin (R-49) announced today. The funding will support critical traffic signal upgrades aimed at improving safety, reducing congestion, and modernizing key corridors across the region.<\/p>\n
\u201cSafe and efficient transportation infrastructure is essential for our economy and quality of life,\u201d said Senator Laughlin. \u201cThese investments will help move traffic more safely and efficiently, reduce backups, and support continued growth across Erie County.\u201d<\/p>\n
Projects Funded<\/p>\n
City of Erie \u2014 $746,320.44 to reconstruct the traffic signal at West 12th Street and Pittsburgh Avenue, a busy intersection serving commuters and visitors.<\/p>\n
Millcreek Township \u2014 $1,799,885.76 to upgrade traffic signal equipment along Route 5, improving flow on one of the region\u2019s most heavily traveled corridors.<\/p>\n
Wesleyville Borough \u2014 $449,079.84 to reconstruct the intersection of Buffalo Road and Station Road, enhancing reliability and safety for motorists and pedestrians.<\/p>\n
About Green Light-Go<\/p>\n
The program reimburses municipalities for projects that improve the efficiency and operation of existing traffic signals. Eligible upgrades include modern signal equipment, intersection reconstruction, and technology that adapts to real-time traffic conditions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThese projects reflect a strong partnership between the state and local governments,\u201d Laughlin added. \u201cBy investing in smarter infrastructure today, we\u2019re helping prevent accidents, reduce delays, and make our roads work better for everyone.\u201d<\/p>\n
