State police at the Bethlehem barracks provided details of a fatal crash involving a 78-year-old man on Christmas Day.<\/p>\n
The Lehigh County Coroner\u2019s Office said Gregg A. Henritzy of Walnutport was pronounced dead in the emergency department of Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest Campus.<\/p>\n
Police said the man was driving an SUV on Route 873 in the area of Venture Court, Washington Township, when the crash occurred at 1:14 p.m. They said he was northbound when he failed to safely negotiate a right curve and the vehicle traveled off the roadway into a grassy area. It continued northbound over Venture Court and struck a stop sign and a tree.<\/p>\n
Police said the man was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and had to be extricated from the vehicle.<\/p>\n
They said he was assessed by personnel from the Northern Valley EMS and was transported to the hospital.<\/p>\n
