A Bethlehem Township man faces assault charges after a violent attack on his ex-girlfriend that saw him break into the house and throw dressers at the woman.<\/p>\n
Gurwinder Singh sits in Northampton County Prison facing simple assault, terroristic threats and harassment charges following the attack in the Bethlehem home he previously shared with his ex-girlfriend in the 400 block of Maple Street.<\/p>\n
The victim told police she heard Singh come in through the back door about 10 p.m. Wednesday, demanding to know who had been in the house. That’s when the 24-year-old allegedly began repeatedly punching the woman in the face and throwing two dressers that hit her left leg, according to court records.<\/p>\n
As she tried to escape, Singh continued his assault yelling, “I hope you die. You’re not going to leave the house ever again,” according to records.<\/p>\n
She retreated into the bathroom, where Singh smashed a mirror causing glass shards to cut her foot.<\/p>\n
Police said the woman managed to escape and call police from a friend’s home. Both of her eyes and the left side of her face were bruised and swollen, according to police.<\/p>\n
Officers went to the Maple Street home, where they found Singh had broken a window on the back door to unlock it.<\/p>\n
District Judge Jacqueline Taschner arraigned Singh, of the 2700 block of Bachman Drive, early Thursday morning, setting bail at $20,000 with a 10 percent option.
