A well-known destination for authentic Mexican flavors has abruptly ended its run in Lehigh County.<\/a><\/p>\n

Casa Catrina<\/a> has permanently shuttered at 1905 Brookside Road in Lower Macungie Township. <\/a>The eatery opened at the site during the March 2020 pandemic shutdown.<\/p>\n

Married owners Humberto and Elia Chavolla took to the business\u2019 Facebook page <\/a>on Dec. 22 to announce the closure to loyal patrons. A week later, the post garnered nearly 200 reactions, 84 comments and 15 shares.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to express our deepest gratitude to all our customers, friends, and supporters who have been with us over these six wonderful years of operation,\u201d the post says. \u201cYour loyalty, kindness, and encouragement meant the world to us and made Casa Catrina a special place.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you for allowing us to be part of your celebrations, your family moments, and your everyday life. We will always be grateful for the memories we created together,\u201d the post added.<\/p>\n

The owners didn\u2019t state a reason for the closure, but did say, \u201cCircumstances have led us to make this difficult decision.\u201d The couple couldn\u2019t immediately be reached for more details Monday morning.<\/p>\n

Casa Catrina<\/a> was known for its handcrafted Mexican specialties, such as nachos, flautas, quesadillas and assorted burritos, enchiladas, fajitas and tacos.<\/p>\n

Other menu specialties <\/a>included the \u201cPina Loco,\u201d which typically includes such savory fillings as grilled meats and cheese in a pineapple boat; and \u201cPollo Jalisco,\u201d which typically includes a grilled chicken breast topped with a savory sauce, cheese, and various vegetables.<\/p>\n

A variety of margaritas, mojitos and sangria choices adorned the menu\u2019s beverage section.<\/p>\n

In response to a comment posted this past Tuesday on the business\u2019 Facebook page about gift cards, the couple said they would be working with another area Mexican eatery to honor the gift cards.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will post the information when we sort it out,\u201d the owners stated.<\/p>\n

The Chavollas previously owned the former Fiesta Ol\u00e9 restaurant on Lehigh Street in Emmaus before embarking on the new business venture, WFMZ-69 News reported.<\/a> <\/p>\n
